Why We’re Shifting How the Studio Works (and Why It’s Better for Everyone)

If you’ve been part of Aesthetic Collective for a while, you may notice that things feel a little more intentional lately. More open. More flexible. More calm.

That’s not an accident.

Over the last few years, the studio has grown alongside the people who use it. What started as a shared creative space naturally accumulated props, furniture, fabrics, sets, and storage. While that worked for a season, we reached a point where the studio was trying to be everything at once: a shooting space, an event venue, and a storage room.

That mix was no longer serving the studio, or the people creating inside it.

So we made a shift.

Separating storage from studio space

One of the biggest changes we made was separating storage from the main studio. This allowed us to reclaim the studio as what it was always meant to be: a flexible, open, blank canvas.

This change came with a real investment on our end. We added additional square footage to house props, decor, and set elements properly. That increase in space also meant an increase in overhead, but it was a necessary step to protect the studio long-term and improve the experience short-term.

By removing storage from the main creative space, we gained:

  • Cleaner sightlines for photography

  • More flexibility for events and layouts

  • Better lighting flow

  • Less visual clutter

  • Faster resets between bookings

And honestly, a lot more breathing room.

A blank space creates better work

One of the most common things we hear from photographers and hosts is how much they value a space that doesn’t dictate the vision.

A blank, open studio allows you to:

  • Build sets intentionally instead of working around them

  • Create multiple looks in one session

  • Bring in your own elements without visual competition

  • Focus on composition, light, and people instead of what needs to be moved

This shift was about creating a studio that supports your ideas, not one that unintentionally steers them.

Why props and decor are now intentional add-ons

With a dedicated prop and storage area, we’re able to better care for the items that make events and shoots special. Laundering fabrics, inspecting pieces, reorganizing between bookings, and keeping things photo-ready all take time and resources.

Moving props into a curated add-on model allows us to:

  • Keep items in better condition

  • Maintain consistency between bookings

  • Prevent wear and tear from constant handling

  • Ensure the studio itself stays clean and open

It also keeps expectations clear. Studio rental gives you the space. Add-ons give you access to specific tools when you want them.

Better for events, better for photos, better for everyone

These changes weren’t made to complicate the process. They were made to simplify it.

Clear separation between:

  • Studio rental

  • Styling and design services

  • Prop access

means fewer assumptions, smoother bookings, and a better experience from start to finish.

It also means when you walk into the studio, it’s ready to become whatever you need it to be.

Looking ahead

Aesthetic Collective is still evolving, and we’re committed to doing that thoughtfully. This shift allows us to protect the space, respect the work happening inside it, and continue offering a studio that feels inspiring, functional, and easy to use.

Thank you for growing with us, for trusting the process, and for continuing to create here. We’re excited about what this next chapter makes possible.
